There are a lot of questions that come with choosing a photographer. You're new to this! I've compiled all of the most FAQs and put them here so you can get all the answers to your questions right away! Woo! If you still have any more, feel free to ask! I'm here to help!
It's super a super simple process! Send me an email to let me know you want to move forward. Then, I'll send over a document with a contract and invoice. Once the contract is signed and the full 50% retainer is paid, we're all good to go! We'll be officially official! Woo!!! Couldn't be more excited to have you!!!
For engagement sessions, a 2 week timeframe. For weddings, it's a 4-6 week timeframe to receive all your images!
I deliver all images via a password protected online gallery. In the gallery you can share, download, and even order prints! (The photos are high res JPG files) You can post on the 'gram, show off the wedding to Facebook friends, send the password to all your friends and family, print, etc. Go crazy.
We can get more done in a short time. For example, while I'm with the bride getting ready, my second shooter can be with the groom. So no missing out on certain moments or having to add unnecessary hours because it's only me! Another example, while I'm doing reception details, they will be capturing cocktail hour candids and group shots! There's always a photographer somewhere. You'll also get multiple angles of different events like the processional, the first look, bride and groom portraits, etc. They also help me and assist me to help make things run smoothly!
Bonus points if you're going somewhere warm during the Chicago winters! ;)
Heck yeah I travel! Send me an email, let me know where we're going and I'll give you more information and a travel quote! Depending on the location, depends on how much it'll cost to have me head out there. Top bucket list - Italy, Greece, France, Hawaii, SoCal, etc
Girl! Boy! Don't be afraid to still reach out!! Please! Let's have an open discussion about your day, your budget, your plans and more. Budgets are hard and wedding planning can be a lot more money than we expected it to be. So fill out the contact form and let's chat about it! I'm always open to talking about it and see what our potential options are so you can still get great photos!
It all depends on the wedding! A typical day is either 8, 9, 10 and some even up to 12 hours. The day starts with me with the bride, second shooter with the groom getting details and getting ready photos. In most cases, we then do the first look and go right into bride and groom portraits, bridal party and immediate family formals. Then we photograph the ceremony, husband & wife golden hour portraits, cocktail hour, and reception details. Once the reception starts, we eat and then photograph all the formalities! Once those are done, we can photograph some open dancing! Typically around 30-45 minutes of open dancing is quite enough because people usually start to get drunk and that's never a flattering look on people! You can book up to 12 hours of coverage and anything below 8 would be a custom package!
I sure do! I've got liability insurance and I have all my gear insured! Make sure all of your vendors have all the necessary licenses and insurances they need to be a legal business!
This is my full time job :) And I'm soooo lucky and honored it is! It helps pay my student loans, car payment, bills, health insurance, for my Portillos, pizza, and my wine, Christmas gifts for friends and family, the roof over my head, soap and toothpaste, etc. All of those things are considered when pricing my services and products. Then I've got business expenses like client experience, gas, website hosting, gallery hosting, camera gear, marketing, outsourcing, insurance, etc. And the worst of them all...... TAXES. >:( So just like any other business like Target & Starbucks, photographers base price on product and their various expenses to run the business and pay they need for their human survival :)
I use a first come first serve process and I like to keep it as fair as possible. I will be 100% transparent and inform all parties that another couple is interested in their same date. Both can book consultations and meet with me. Whoever signs and pays the deposit in full first will receive the date.
The amount of photos depends on a couple of things! How big the wedding is, how many details, how many events, how big the bridal party is, how many family members, etc. Typically it's about 75-100 photos per hour of coverage. So a 8 hour wedding can expect between 600-800 photos! Soooo many photos! Yay!
As soon as possible!!! Wedding photographers can book a date up to 18 months in advance! So if you have a specific photographer you have in mind, reach out to them ASAP!
Yes ma'am/sir! All collections include printing rights to your photos. I also have a store in your online gallery where you can buy prints through my professional lab. Print where you'd like! I just can't guarantee the quality of labs outside of mine!
Sooo excited you wanna chat! First, you'll fill out the contact form on my site. Then, here are your options! 1. We can get wine or coffee and meet in person! (Drink on me!) or 2. We can use our God given technology options and have a video call (wine, messy hair & sweatpants are optional). I love the face to face interaction because I think it's super important to click well with your photographer! (Plus, millennials hate phone calls amirite!? ;))
Sure thang! Just ask and I can give you a gallery to look through! :)
Well, in a nut shell, I would describe my work as clean, light, classic, elegant, and timeless! My main goal is to make you guys look good, highlight your happiness, have fun, and most importantly, not have any potential future children & grandchildren look at your photos and say, "Uh... why did you do that?!" and you having to reply, "It was a thing back then!" I like to say, think of how we look at our grandparent's photos. We just love them and think they're so pretty and timeless. I want yours to have the same elegance and timeless charm as theirs.
Nope, but you don't want them anyway. You want the pretty stuff. It's like the cake without the frosting. The raw meat before its cooked. No fun. I give the best of the best, so you don't have to go through 3,000+ photos of eye blinks, awkward posing, behind the scenes photos of me, weird photos of me and my second shooter testing light, accidental shots, test shots... etc. I do all the hard work for you and give you a beautiful end product :)
I love engagement sessions! They're the perfect way for us to get to know each other before the wedding! We also get you comfortable in front of the camera so on the wedding day, it isn't new to you and you're already used to it! During the session, I teach you poses, so on the wedding day, we aren't wasting time running through poses, we can just get straight into the portrait fun! 10/10 Recommend them! I also give every couple an engagement style guide. It helps you pick your location, chose outfits, coordinate your outfits, and more. Less stress, mo' fun!
I always say yes!!! There's something so special about being able to sit around a coffee or kitchen table and flip through your moments and memories. And think about this moment (if you have & want kids). The moment your kids and grandkids ask about your wedding day. Your dress, grandpa's reaction to seeing you the first time, people who were there, etc, and you can bring out the album to show them, not an outdated piece of technology. Being able to touch, see, and feel your photos is amazing. It's a totally different experience. It's also your first legacy item together as a new family. It's the first thing you have together as a married couple to pass down to future generations of family. You can add one on at any point! 10/10 recommend. Totally worth the investment!
