Summer Butterfield Country Club Wedding

Francesca and Matt are the definitions of a power couple. They met while they were both undergrads at The University of Notre Dame, working their way toward becoming doctors. Their beauty on the outside matches their beauty and intelligence on the inside. The two are warm and welcoming people and love to be goofy and light-hearted with each other and their loved ones. Photographing their summer Butterfield Country Club wedding was such an honor.

A Relaxing Experience

Francesca found me through her family friend and childhood neighbor, Eva, who I had the pleasure of photographing her wedding to Jackson in 2020. Francesca worked with Stephanie at The Creative Planners to create her envisioned wedding. Working with Stephanie was a great relaxed, and easy experience for myself and the couple.

Elegant, Classic, Romantic

When I asked Fran what her vision was for her day, she said her goal was an elegant, classic, romantic wedding day that was peaceful and enjoyable. Her style icon inspirations were “if Princess Diana and the Mom, Elizabeth James, from the Parent Trap planned a wedding”. Each piece of her wedding day was intentionally thought out and picked.

The Venue + The Look

They got married at Fran’s childhood and family church in Elmhurst, The Immaculate Conception. She turned heads as she walked down the aisle with her dad in her beautiful gown. Francesca said her wedding look pulled from differing inspirations. “My puff sleeves and flower headpiece are inspired by my mom, Darlene’s, wedding look. I chose my style of English net veil because it reminds me of old sculptures of the Virgin Mary.” This was only the start of nods towards her parents and their love story.

Family Legacy

The day had little nods towards the Cozzi legacy. She not only pulled pieces and inspiration from her mom, but also from other pieces from that time period. They had a cake that was a nod to the style of cake that could be seen when her parents and Matt’s parents were married. She also took a classic white limo with her parents to the church and later back to the venue with Matt.

Summer Butterfield Country Club Wedding

Their cocktail hour and reception were held at The Butterfield Country Club, a nod to Matt’s love of golf. They had May Midwest weather every couple hopes for on their wedding day. Sunny, warm, and breezy. This made for perfect weather for their outdoor cocktail hour and later during the reception when guests took breaks from dancing with the band playing to enjoy the weather and a drink

Spending time with Francesca and Matt was such a joy and you can tell how much they are enjoyed by those that love them. Guests lived in the moment during each toast (and rap courtesy of the bride’s dad, Dr. Cozzi), their fun choreographed dance, and once the open dancing started with the live band. IT was a beautiful and special day that I would photograph over and over again.
