Kiawah River Destination Wedding

Many good things have come from 2020 – at least when it comes to weddings. We’re seeing more and more couples choose to do things their own way and try new ideas. One of the biggest things that we’re on board with is creating a more intimate wedding guest list. And now that travel is making its return, more couples are taking their best friends and closest families to beautiful destinations like this beautiful Kiawah River destination wedding.

Kiawah River in South Carolina

Kiawah River, a new community nestled on the riverfront within the Charleston Sea Islands, recently opened their wedding venue. This venue is unique in that it allows couples to do a custom build for their reception. A quiet and quaint spot, couples can get married under the beautiful blankets of Spanish moss.

Wedding Inspiration and Design

This sweet wedding was designed and planned by the talented Baylye of Burnette Events and Designs (formerly known as We Do! Charleston). With vibrant florals and linens, Baylye’s design stands out against the beauty of the nature surrounding the space while allowing for a seamless visual flow.

The Team

We are huge advocates for flying in your dream team for your day. Whether that’s your photographer, makeup, planner, and more. With social media and access to travel, couples are able to look outside of the local market and hire the best and favorite vendors from anywhere in the world. Each vendor for this incredible event was from different parts of the US and all came together to collaborate to bring this day to life. Vendors involved represented home bases of Florida, Alabama, Chicago, Nashville, Charleston, and more.

The Look

The couple was styled and groomed by the owner and lead of Canvas and Coif, Shani. The bride wanted simple, elevated bridal makeup and Shani delivered. Jo’s beautiful gown is from Chicago based designer, Susan Samway. The dress had beautiful floral appliques. Our groom, in keeping with classic southern tradition, wore a crisp white dinner jacket. Both looks complimented each other with stunning formality. And I can’t get enough of their portraits during golden hour.
