Fairmont Hotel Chicago Wedding

Summer weather in Chicago is anything but predictable. So when the rains came for Amber and Brian’s Fairmont Hotel (Chicago) wedding, we were armed with a back up plan! The photos were fantastic and the day was even better. Amber and Brian were super sweet and easy going and great in front of the camera, making for an overall great and fun day, full of love

It’s All Fun And Games Until Someone Falls In Love

Amber and Brian met through Tinder, and their first date was getting drinks at Hopsmith Tavern. Amber scheduled a game night at her place right after so she could have an excuse to leave if he ended up weird or if the date wasn’t going well. However, the date went so well that Amber delayed the start time of game night. After Hopsmith, they walked over to Mother’s Too for more drinks and played giant Jenga.

The Proposal – Straight Out Of A Movie!

A few weeks before, Brian told Amber he wanted to have brunch at The Langham because their mutual friend works there. That weekend, they had 2 of our friends from out of state come in, so Amber thought it was just a fun brunch to catch up with old friends. Brian told Amber that she needed to dress up because The Langham was a classy place. Once they sit down for brunch, Brian said he needed to go to the bathroom. Their friend who works at the Langham wanted to show them around, but Amber said they should wait for Brian and he said, “it’s okay, the bathroom is near there so he’ll see us when he comes out.” So they walked to what is called the Pavilion, and as Amber walked up, there were these beautiful gates with Brian sitting behind them, and Amber was immediately confused, asking how he got there and why he was there. The gates slowly opened and she saw candles and flower petals creating a path up to Brian, while a pianist played Landslide by Fleetwood Mac, one of her favorite songs. He even had 2 photographers snapping pictures! Then Brian stands up, they met in the middle and he proposed. Then, the staff brought out champagne and a dessert plate and they took lots of pictures!

These Are A Few Of Our Favorite Things

Amber and Brian are big foodies, so they are always going out to eat and looking for cool vibey restaurants. (She even gifted him a custom ranch bottle!) In fact, their goal is to eat at all the Michelin star restaurants in Chicago. They love spending time with and doting on their dog, Yuki. She’s a Shiba Inu. They share a love for popcorn, so they are always on the lookout for gourmet popcorn. They also like live music, traveling, and just spending time with other people.

In Their Own Words

I asked Amber and Brian what they loved most about the other person. This is their response:

Amber: “My favorite things about Brian are that is treats me so well (he is always so kind, affectionate, and he usually gives into what I want), he is so fun (always down to do anything, life of the party), and he’s bold and unique (he likes being different, especially in clothing and decor, he always stands out somehow).”

Brian: “My favorite things about Amber are her personality, her smile, her thoughtfulness and her outlook on life. She is very optimistic and driven. She is always putting me first and when it comes to give giving and surprises, she carefully crafts each gift to be personal for me.”

When asked to describe their relationship in a sentence, this is what they said:

“We would describe our relationship as finding a needle in a haystack. Somehow, we found each other at the right time and we are so similar yet so different, but in the end, it makes us perfect for each other.”

What’s A Little Rain?

On the day of Amber and Brian’s Fairmont Hotel (Chicago) wedding, it rained literally all day. In fact, we even had tornado warnings in the morning while I was shooting details! What started as a cloudy, humid day quickly turned dark, and soon it was down pouring. Luckily, we had a moment of clear skies so we were able to do some of their portraits outside of the hotel. The rest of the day we photographed inside. Even though the weather didn’t cooperate, everything was at the hotel which made for an easy relaxed day.
