The moment you have been dreaming of forever has finally come true and you are ENGAGED! Pop that champagne! Some couples want to get straight to work planning their dream wedding, but it’s ok to let it sink in for a few days, take a moment to celebrate with your friends, family, and new fiance before you jump into wedding planning, this season won’t last forever so you have to make time to enjoy it! If you find these tips helpful then you will love the wedding planning checklist that I’ve created just for you!
First, setting a wedding budget is the most important part of your wedding planning process. Both of you should be on the same page as far as spending expectations go. If you have family helping pay, this is the time to figure out who is contributing and how much.
What are the most important vendors, details, and aspects of your wedding day to each of you? Think about what vendors are important to you and what vendors do you both prioritize? Are you both on the same page of inviting every single person you know or do you want a more intimate guest list? Wherever your priorities land, make sure you match your budget to those big line items.
Next, the guest list is important to start thinking about right away. This one may require some extra input from your families but knowing a range of how many people you will most likely invite is important for the next steps such as choosing a venue, caterer, and rentals company.
Don’t wait on this, venues book up fast, especially Chicago venues. Some venues book out as early as 2 years. You’ll want to move quickly to get your dream venue and a date that works. Once you have a date set in stone, it makes planning everything else much easier. You can start to envision the look and feel of the day and start contacting your dream vendors.
Finally, its time for you to choose all of your vendors, photographers, and live bands are usually the first to book up quickly, so I always recommend starting with there. Sit down with your fiancé and pick your top 10 to reach out to and start setting up consultations and calls to find the perfect pick. Have fun with this step! If you’re overwhelmed, start with baby steps one vendor at a time.
I created a Wedding Planning Checklist for you to help you stay on track and take away the stress of wedding planning. Cheers to fun wedding planning! You can grab that HERE.
