Hunter Green and Gold Wedding

Feb 26, 2019

Do you know what color is overlooked when it comes to wedding day colors? Hunter green! This color is SO SO SO pretty. It also can be used in all four seasons! You can deepen it for a fall and winter wedding or lighten it up with complimenting light colors to make it fit a summer or spring wedding! So I, with the help of Olive Fine Weddings and Events gathered a team of amazing vendors a hunter green shoot at The Chicago History Museum!

We wanted a shoot that would be classic in an elegant, romantic modern way. We thought the Chicago History Museum would be the perfect setting. It has a beautiful high end feel with gorgeous crown molding, art displayed on the walls, and picture-perfect interior and exterior! Since it also has some texture, the texture was another focus for this shoot!

For the invitation suite by Paper Love Club, we kept things elegant and simple. The suite was made with textured hand made paper. Ashley used light handed calligraphy and a sketch of the venue to bring in the romantic, and high end feel we wanted in the suite. And of course, no wedding invite is complete without a custom crest!!!

Willrett Flower Co. was the mastermind behind the fantastic florals. We wanted to shy away from the typical use of using an abundance of greenery. Kat went ahead and focused more so on the gold, neutral aspect of the shoot for the bouquet. Instead of using the traditional ceremony floral pieces, we went for a floral installation piece that was different from the norm used in the space opting for two stand-alone pieces vs. an arch or circle.

ECBG Cake Studio is a cake genius! She created a neutral, monochrome style that played with different textures and applications. They created a fan-like deco piece hat provided the modern flair and visual interest. Erin said it was essential to keep the lines clean and sharp to not distract from the couple and prominent hunter green accents.

Our primary goal for the bride and groom was to keep things classic, romantic with a modern twist. The dress was an Alexandra Grecco design from Alice in Ivory! The flowy skirt provided the romantic feel we wanted, and the detailing gave it the modern twist. We kept the groom in a black tux from Formally Modern to maintain the high end, classic look.

For hair and makeup, we had Holli Beauty Bridal and Three One Two Bridal play in our different vibes. The hair played in for the texture, giving Laura a low classic, bridal bun with texture. The makeup played to heighten the bride’s features and kept things clean and neutral.

It was truly an amazing January day! Everyone did a fantastic job, and I have to give my Alexandra Lee Couple Laura & David major props, hugs, and praises for being AMAZING with the frigid weather!!!
