I. HAVE. NO. WORDS!!!!!! This shoot helped me fall in love with photography even more and pushed my adoration with weddings even further! This Glam The Dress session was all I dreamed of and more! Now you’re probably thinking… “Alex, what the heck is a glam the dress session?” I’ll tell you, my friend…
When a bride is looking for her dream wedding dress or gown, she spends countless hours and tons of time making sure she has the dress of her dream. (Let’s be honest, most of us have an idea of our dream dress since we are little…). A bride also sometimes spends a lot of money on her wedding dress and shoes. She wears it once, feels great, and that’s it. A Glam the Dress Session changes that. With this session, a bride gets to have her hair professionally done, her make up done by a professional AND GETS TO WEAR HER DRESS AGAIN! YAY!!! She gets to look like a queen, SLAY in front of the camera, and relive the beautiful feeling her dress gives her. A lot of times on a wedding day, there isn’t a ton of time for bridal portraits, especially if the timeline gets behind. I’ve also had friends say their pictures didn’t turn out quite how they had hoped so in that case, a Glam the Dress session can also give you some portraits you’re in love with. Either way, you get to look stunning, wear your dress again, and you’ll have even more bridal portraits for yourself, your family, your husband, and your future children and grandchildren. (I know I would love to see these types of photos of my mom and grandmas).
Putting together this shoot was amazing. This team of people couldn’t of been any better. Alana of Amelia & Co Chicago did the make up exactly how I imagined it to be. Also, she was a rockstar and an absolutely amazing human for driving all over the state of Illinois for me. Tamara of Tamara Holden Hair is a hair GODDESS. Can I come take braiding lessons from you, Tamara?! Let’s get drinks and do hair 😉 Don’t even get me started on Anna… She is absolutely GORGEOUS and a total sweetheart. She was great help during the planning and I couldn’t be more appreciative of that. Beth is the sweetest lady I’ve met and if you need anything for your wedding, you should definitely check out Elements Preserved Rentals… Their pieces can take your wedding to the next level.
The two dresses were from Simply Luxe Bridal. They are located in Algonquin, Illinois… and Oh. My. Goodness. Ladies & Gents… Their gowns are simply breathtaking and their store is so clean and pretty. Dana and Susan, thank you so much for working with me. You two are great ladies!
When I called John from Twisted Stem Floral to get an update on the flowers I remember he said, “I don’t make dainty flower crowns. The girl wearing it has to have a strong neck”. And he wasn’t kidding. This floral crown was breath taking. I’d also buy 100 of those bouquets to put in my home if I could. His work is so out of this world awesome and unique. I would get married 10920183 times to have him be my florist.
Our shoot was held in Elgin, Illinois. When I arrived I was so excited once I saw the setup Beth had for me. I shot the details and then everyone else arrived. We had a great time taking Insta stories, listening to music, and getting giddy over the images we saw on the back of the camera.
So if you’re a bride and you want to wear your dress again or want more portraits, I’d highly recommend a Glam the Dress shoot!
To all the vendors, thank you so much!!! It was a pleasure working with all of you. You are amazing people with amazing talents! *All vendors/details will be listed at the end of the post*
